Well, you could see some weird thing in the statue in the second picture. Maybe they just randomly thought it could be a person, so they tried to x-ray it

Maybe the weight was wrong. Too light to be solid, too heavy to be completely hollow.

it might have been a legend that the statue was made from a monk, so they were testing it
