Usually 2-3 hours drive out of the city away from large, busy highways.

The guest is correct! My parents have a place about 3 hours away from the closest city and no lights on any roads within maybe 6 miles. It's astonishing how many stars are visible on a clear night, I dragged my friend outside in -17 degree weather to show him a few weeks ago.

I saw this a few weeks ago out at meteor crater in Arizona. No artificial light all the way to the horizon and beyond. Incredible.

Tbh, the 1st thing I thought of, when I saw this, was "have you ever asked the grinning bobcat why he grinned?"

How high can a sycamore grow? If you cut it down, then you'll never know!

We have a place about 60 miles from the nearest city, no expressways, no street lights, neighbors half a mile away, on clear summer nights we can see an entire sky of stars and more constellations than most people even know exist. I never want to give up the awesome beauty, peacefulness and seclusion of it.
