That too, I'm pretty sure I would like a couple minutes to try and pry myself out of a sardine can before going bang. Besides I can't even use a car for anything I need to have a lot of cargo space, so the smallest practical vehicle I can use is a 3/4 ton truck.
NO IT DOES NOT GO BOOM!! The hydrogen fuel cell in that car is way safer than your average metal tank full of gas is when it comes to crashes. Its ballistically tested and won't rupture under any circumstances unless you're targeted by a missile. Also I believe Toyota pays for your hydrogen themselves as part of their marketing. This car is the start of the future guys. Hydrogen is going to take over when the gas gets too expensive, whenever that happens.
this pic suggests that the Mirai is a very green vehicle. If you look at the whole picture you'll find that the environmental impact of seperating hydrogen from the other elements is currently very high not to mention expensive. Any time energy changes forms there is some loss. Hydrogen cars are very green.....hydrogen plans would not be.
We should defenatly continue working on the tech, but right now it really doesnt make sense from an enviromental or economical standpoint. It does from a marketing pov though.
Actually extracting hydrogen is extremely easy, as all you do is apply current to saltwater to break it into oxygen and hydrogen. There are other less friendly ways but as a whole getting hydrogen is actually pretty Eco friendly and cheap. A gallon of liquid hydrogen costs about the same a s a gallon of gas, and when used in the system that car has, way more efficient.
That's a potential problem yes but maybe it could be fit with a system to collect the water onboard and you could empty it into a drain at your house? Don't know if that's a good idea or not but I'm sure the engineers will have thought of that problem
So I have several questions, it would be nice if you guys can help me out here:
Where does the water came out?
Would it drip pretty fast or not?
Would the water be drinkable?
How much would it cost to get it re-filled, and how often would you have to?
I jut find this really interesting. I might get in the future, even.
sorry that's expensive!
otherwise it's an awesome looking car
