He must have been trying to photograph something else. As the photos show, you don't need a telephoto lens with these adorable little bastards.

He was probably trying to photograph them from a distance because Meerkats are very territorial. That was probably his 3rd, 4th maybe even 5th day straight photographing them though so they became comfortable around him and let the little ones use him as a climbing frame.
??? Again, how have you concluded that he can't take a picture of a meerkat? The first image is one of the meerkats he's taken? The post doesn't include any others because it's not showcasing his work, it's showcasing how inquisitive the meerkats are. That doesn't mean he isn't capable of taking photos of them.
To be able to afford gear like that and go there and take photos must mean he's a pretty damn good photographer otherwise he wouldn't waste his money on that stuff.
Dude, this is the internet, just chillax even if you can't take a joke

Yeah cool, your original comment wasn't even a joke so how am I meant to take it as a joke?
And anyway, don't criticise someone's work and career without knowing about it.
What's there not to know? If he's holding a camera in a sophisticated position in front of a group of animals we know that he's a photographer and we know that he worked hard to be what he wants. Also, it's not rare that other photographers would comment the same thing to other photographers, but did they lose their shit when they hear or read the comment? No, they just smile back to them and reply back with a witty comeback. It's messed up when people turn simple things into a very complex one because they can't take it.
