I call bullshit
The story of cinderella (or Yeh-Shen) can be traced back to China, when tiny feet were thought to be beautiful and people practiced foot-binding. Yeh-Shen had the tiniest feet, that's why she was the only one who could fit in the slipper. This story was around waaayy before it appeared in any European literature.
They may be separate stories that blended into one or were just similar by coincidence. Also, fun fact, in the original European version, the evi step-mother was made to dance on hot coals until she died (or something similar, I'm not sure)
