So true! A valedictorian or a diploma isn't worth jack shit today. Go to University - work at mcdonalds. Don't go to University - work at mcdonalds.
If everyone has a diploma, no one does.
But aren't there enough teenagers for those jobs? And even if you work hard enough at those jobs you should move up within that corporation and become a supervisor or manager by the time you're older...as a fall back job sure, but you should be able to move up to something higher if you develop skills
@1st guest, you're so deeply mistaken, dear. Moving up is not the point. The point is to do a honest job and earn enough for yourself to live decently. Not everybody can be the boss because we'd run out of people to boss around.

Plenty of people work these kinds of jobs as a second job too.
All I can say is, thumbs fucking up to the celing.
People who earn their money with hard, honest work should always be respected, even if they don't have fancy degrees or IQ over 300.
The problem is that this jobs need to be better payed is not about a degree. We are obligated to study bevause we want to make more money but we should study because we like a career. At least in my country a teacher or an ingeneer Or a bank or retail worker make the same as a waitress. A pizza delivery guy make a little less than a cheff
I'm a manager of a restaurant at night, landscaper during the day, and an university student as well. Sleep isn't an option, but money has to be made (at around $5000 a term plus books)
I feel like most of the comments missed the point of the post. It's not whether you have a degree or not. It's not whether your work in a low paying/ minimum wage job or not. It's pointing out that even those people who work in "low class" jobs may be just as intelligent and have as much schooling as someone in a high paying job, and making an assumption about that person, without knowing the facts, is a dick move.
If everyone worked hard and got degrees, robots would soon exist that would do all our mindless shit for us. That would be the benefit of everyone working hard to be the absolute smartest they can possibly be.
