It's pretty true though. Because the metal isn't shielded by gasses and an oxidized layer, it joins. The reason for this is that metals are pretty much atomic nuclei floating in an electron "soup" and when this soup contacts with another identical soup they become one big soup.
To Gordon's credit he worked for marco-pierre White who was an extreme perfectionist. When Gordon screams and yells its because the situation is bad. Not just slightly imperfect.
That last one made me ask "did those parents actually fucking breed, and if so, how did these children keep an IQ above 30 around here?

I might be mistaken, but in the 80s, as far as I can tell, it just wasn't known that AIDS wasn't contagious in that way. A bit like it took a long, long time to learn that cigarettes were bad for health.
Adding on to the crooked teeth one, fake braces have also become a new trend with Asian youth- they see it as a sign of wealth, and even if they don't actually need the braces, they still get them anyway so that people know they're wealthy enough to afford them.
On the Tyan White thing, when parents asked if there was risk to their kids, the answer was "There has been no proven link of spreading through sharing drinking foutntains, etc." Since AIDS had only been "a thing" for like a year and a half, it wasn't reassuring. People felt like their kids were supposed to be the test lab to see if such spreading could occur. There was so much more that WASN'T known than was known.
