Bunch of grown men running around in the dark, scaring themselves.
.
Here's an idea, turn the fucking lights on.
There's nothing in the supposed ghost "lore" that says it has to be dark.
it's for entertainment purposes- it makes it more creepy/eery if they're stuck in the dark. Like when Zak allegedly got possessed- whether it was real or not it was creepy turning the corner to see him sat in the middle of the room in the pitch black on his own.
no, I mean the whole being in the dark. Whether we're supposed to take it as true or not- they want to dramatize it a little and make it creepier- hence the spooky sound effects and darkness. The dark is linked with fear and monsters and ghosts and all that jazz. Spending the night in an allegedly haunted building with the lights on everywhere just wouldn't be as frightening as creeping around in the pitch darkness with night vision cameras. Most ghost-hunting shows will do that. The dark is linked to the supernatural- it's another aspect to try and create this perfect balance of the entertainment and the findings of the team.
They need dark to see the infrared which is how you see ghosts. Since infrared cameras pick up both infrared and visible light radiation, they need it to be dark for the cameras
I don't know who has been telling you what, but infrared and infrared imaging just doesn't work like that.
.
The visible spectra of light just doesn't register on an infrared camera and it is of no consequence if the lights are on or not.
.
Infrared imaging, or thermal imaging as it might might be better known has several dozen uses, "night vision " is only one of them.
One of them is in firefighting to locate fire hot spots and survivors. Would you say that the firefighters need to wait until after the sun goes down to use them?
Another use is in airports at international checkpoints to reveal persons experiencing a fever, possibly having lied on their entrance questionnaire. I've been through many international terminals and active Customs & Immigrations stations are all well lit.
Lastly, I have tested and used IR imagers in the daytime and they worked just fine.
