You hold up there just a second! That article specifically says that the Philippine government did this before the Pope's arrival. This is not the doing of the Pope, of the church, or of religion, so don't you go using it as a point against any of those things.

While reading the linked article I had to put my phone down for a second. The idea that anyone could do this to children is sickening. Especially considering the message the Pope is spreading. I'm surprised the Pope didn't demand to see these kids instead of the "orphan free streets". That'd show the government. (He didn't though.)

The money was actually sent by Cor Unum, a pontifical council who takes advice and general direction from the Pope but does not "obey His orders" or anything. Thanks to Robert Sarah, the cardinal in charge of Cor Unum since 2010, and the rest of Cor Unum members :)
