I thought there was a typo at first, most ISS missions are only six months, but as it turns out he is indeed been selected for a one year misson. One of the many goals is the further collection of data concerning long term habitation of space by humans.
.
He's quite the veteran too. He was on shuttle STS103 as pilot, STS118 as Mission Commander, a supply mission to the ISS. ISS Expedition 25 as Flight Engineer and Expedition 26 as Commander.
.
This time around, He'll be:
Expedition 43, Flight Engineer 5
Expedition 44, Flight Engineer 2
Expedition 45 & 46, Commander
