People who doesn't know this think we do it on purpose, and this isn't just true. We can barely manage ourselves, how do you think we are able to manage other people?
Then the bible is simply a good book, with life lessons and a bunch of metaphors. It has some pretty intense stories and some fun parts, so I would highly encourage you to thumb through a little bit of it.
If you don't believe in God, well you're still held accountable to the exact same standard as everyone else for the past 2015 years. You don't wanna be on the wrong side of God's judgment. :O
Gosh, are you all hilarious... Some people behave because they think it's the right thing to do. Some don't because they think rudeness is attractive or something. Those, who behave only because mum told them to or God told them to or simply because they're going to get a candy bar or go to heaven if they're nice and polite... those of you suck. If, in order to be a decent human being, you need someone to order you to or promise you a reward for it... you are not a decent human being. Sure, you look like one and talk like one... but your morals are bendier than contortion artists.
I was baptised catholic. I have read the whole bible numerous times but I've grown tired of this because at catholic schools they're pretty much "no other opinions, this is right"
I don't believe that there's a God, but that's just my personal opinion. Have a good day :)
Most of the time I'm (at least I think) a good person. I can't fuck anyone over because my conscience would eat at me, not because I believe I would go to hell. I'm nice and polite to people because that's what I feel I should be, not because someone told me to be or else I'm going to regret it in the afterlife. Sometimes I'm an asshole, I admit and accept that. But never on purpose.. I'm not 100% sure there is a God, no one is, that's why it's called faith. But it's not fear nor belief that makes me a descent human being, it's what I think is morally right and morally wrong. Hell if I went somewhere to eat and realized after that I couldn't tip the waiter/waitress that much, I felt horrible. But from working in the food industry for awhile I noticed that the church going type don't usually like to tip that much if at all. So who are you really looking out for? Yourself, or others?
Same here. I can do little things here and there but never anything massive that would involve seriously hurting someone, whether it be physically or mentally or emotionally. You're completely right, it's all about morale and what you believe in. If you believe in God, you believe in God. If you believe that every other religion is wrong, you believe that too. It really depends on what kind of person you are.
On a side note, I believe tipping should be entirely optional in America just like it is in Australia. Heck, the only place I've ever tipped is the coffee shop because I had some spare change.
Mainly the only reason I believe in tipping is because the waiters/waitresses in the US only make $2-$3 an hour. So after taxes their paycheck is basically nothing. Also, I used to be a pizza delivery driver and I depended on tips mostly. So now I always make sure I have at least $5 to tip when I go out to eat or order pizza. I haven't ordered pizza many times because I couldn't afford a descent tip for the driver.
