Sadly, not all Christians follow that train of thought. Some don't care if you're nice to them, if you're different, they hate you.

Example B) The war on Gays/Lesbians
You hit it on the head here. This is the same reason why "mental illness" is such a problem- it's a somewhat taboo word, but almost everybody has something. The difference is they have words for everything now.

See, I get the idea behind it, but I disagree. Because this is a reactionary attitude. You are expecting that the other person be nice to you before you are nice to them. It's a violation of the categorical imperative, and is therefore inherently selfish. If you're only nice after they are, and they're only nice after you are (meaning you're both waiting on the other to be nice first), you'll never have a good relationship.
In layman's terms: Don't be reactionary. You be nice to others NO MATTER WHAT.

I know more Christians who are for gays than against.
Even the pope doesn't have anything against them.
