I know - it may sound exaggerated but kids today are totally corrupted and can't spend one minute not on technology. I don't even remember the last time my younger brothers read.

I know! I mean, technology is great but it's been proven to be bad for young children (or anyone, really) to be on it for too long. It makes me sad when I walk by an empty playground. Or when I babysit my neighbours kids, who never want to do anything except watch a movie.

exactly!! have you seen all car commercials lately? they all feature cars that have Wi-Fi or movies so the kids stay quiet. its just baffling.

Okay, fair enough! But my problem isn't with technology, it's with the overuse of technology.

Yes! Tech is find, but kids need to experience the world first, and to remember that there are things out of the screen and that others deserve attention as well as electronics

Hey! I'm 13 and I grew up with Legos and the outdoors and feeding random cats that happened to come by, not only technology! I can go weeks without tech (although I start to forget what day it is) I bet all you "uncorrupted adults" can't even go a few days without their phones! I'm practically addicted to books (I own 230ish of them) I read all the time, I also write a lot. Not all kids are addicted to technology.

I hope you realize my childhood story is very similar to yours. I'm not an adult, but I look at both people my age and people younger and realize the negative impacts of overuse of technology in children's lives. And while I'm not an adult, I think that using that juxtaposition is kinda mean. And I can stay weeks without tech, given that I have other things to entertain me. I read and I write, I sing and dance, I do a lot not concerning twch, but I do also do a lot more with tech. I am lucky I grew up in a time where tech hadn't taken over our lives to this extent, because I believe it allowed me a full personality. I have a young cousin, and his life is dependant on phones. He barely has a personality. I feel bad for him. Use of technology is good. Overuse is bad, especially for children. An d remembe this is coming from someone with a very similar life story and of a very close age.

everyone talks about how technology took over the toys, and you commented to praise yourself! Let someone praise you, dont praise yourself

They are just like any other toy. Adults won't understand because they are no longer kids. In 20 years you will see people say they're glad they grew up with technology.

There have been many studies demonstrating the negative effects that too much technology has had on the growth and development of children's brains. So, while I don't think that technology is purely negative (it has many positive traits), it has certainly caused a lot of problems. And I don't think children 20 years from now will be happy to say that the best memories the have with their parents, siblings, and friends is staring mindlessly at a screen.

I like to multitask while on my iPad. I usually watch anime or read on it, but it's still not healthy to stare at the screen all day (it gives me headaches, too), so I take breaks and do art stuff, like drawing or panting. In fact, I'm working on a picture of cute monkeys! (^∇^)
