Actually this makes sense since eyedrops are formulated to dialate the blood vessels. Now if I can just remember this trick when I need it.

Yep, you actually want a coagulant to stop the bleeding.

It's cuz artificial tears are a lubricant and create a surface which slows and blocks the flow of blood on a cut....
