And yet some clerks whose job it is to hand out marriage licenses are refusing because of their beliefs. Which by my logic is like working at mcdonalds and refusing to sell hamburgers because you're vegetarian. In either case you should lose your job pretty quickly!
Ah! The anti vaccine people get me every time. I don't know why vaccines can't be mandatory, at least at a state level. It's ridiculous. Children are dying, and if some children are not vaccinated, while others still are, the virus can be slowly exposed to the vaccine and mutate, making a huge mess. Freaking 'freedom of choice' should not apply here, just as it doesn't apply to, say, roving a bank, or murder.
I wish Australia would hurry up and do it but it probably wont happen for quite some tome as Tony Abbott is a homophobe even though his sister is lesbian.
Agreed! I don't know who down voted you seeing as everything you said is true, obviously some gross Abbott lover. I hate how when questioned now he's like 'I have said my thoughts on this and I stand by them' like dude...this is a democracy!! That's great your opinion hasn't changed, whatevs, but your opinion doesn't get to be everyone's, you represent THE PEOPLE of Australia. Selfish turd.
A lot of Australian same-sex couples are coming to New Zealand in order to get married because their government can't their get arse into gear. (No pun intended)
it's because the U.S. is choosing to make a big deal out of it. To everyone else it's just what should happen. The U.S. wants gratitude for what's expected of them.

To a lot of the U.S. citizens, it's what should have happened a while ago. Unfortunately there was a loud dissenting opinion carried by an idiot republican president for 8 years, and a republican congress for 4 years. Our "democracy" doesn't speak for the majority, since in actuality it is not a democracy but a democratic republic. Which is to say it's a clusterf***. Meaning things in the US are decided by money, and not the people. So don't hate us. The companies profiting from the politicians are who the world hears from. Not the citizens. We're here trying to do good. I promise. The "noise" you refer to is those of us celebrating that we finally won against the ass-backwards people who keep progress from happening. Unfortunately, because of the way our system is set up, it takes way longer to progress than it should.
Actually not all of the US was opposed to the idea only 13 out of 50 states and other countries did not necessarily legalize gay marriage but recognized it as some other form of union with different rights than those given to marriage.
Social media is more open in the US... alot more americans use all these social media sites and are quite open about their everyday lives on it... the media has a big role to play in the publicizing of these kinda things.. yet no one ever notices it
Way to go backwards arse, way to go.
