Yeah, a lot of people don't understand that the President is just a figure head. His only power is Vetoing.
The best way to change this country is to let everyone from Congress go. Get rid of the bill (that was passed in the 70's) that allows congress to write their own paychecks and write offs, and see who REALLY wants to serve for the good of the people, not their pockets.
Actually the president has almost unlimited power in foreign affairs, executive action (the ability to decide how all laws are implemented if the even will be: think weed) and executive orders (think internment). So, no, while he is in no way the god that some people make him out to be, he is in no way just a figurehead.
However, there is hardly a difference between political parties. Both completely suck and will run the country further into the ground and they've set the system up so that we can only choose between the two parties with no real third options. So even if he isn't just a figurehead, nothing will get better when he's gone, and nothing got better when he took over from Bush.
Congress has the power of the purse and could have stopped obamacare in its tracks but instead tried to get the supreme Court to do their dirty work...congress can fix this but first we need Mr.Let Me Make A Deal With Iran out of office.
It's true. He's made two or three helpful decisions in his 6+ years as president. That's a heck of a record compared to the dozens or horrible policies that he's implemented.
