MSG is a concentrate of Umami. Our tongues detect sweet, sour, salty, bitter and Umami. For the longest time, umami was debated but its been discovered that we detect protein in our food and crave it, which is what the umami flavor is.
As for phone calls, there was a recent case of a woman who received half a million dollars from a company for calling to sell a credit card. They had the wrong person with a different phone number but they kept calling her for months, several times a day. She finally sued.
I read about the study with the monkey prostitution and it's actually really cool. They gave the monkeys currency to buy grapes and they were able to gamble and do whatever they wanted and really quickly the males would give the females a coin and they would engage in sex for around 20 seconds and walk away like nothing happened.
The MSG hype wasn't even based off a study. It was based off a letter a scientist wrote to a magazine expressing his opinion that MSG was bad for the human body.
I have more intresting facts.
