Uh. This is a appropriate response for the situation however you should consider using something that is edible. Nasty but edible. Let that happen to someone stupid enough and they might die.

Yeah, um... those are probably poisonous. :/ If someone gets sick you could potentially be sued for damages, or even involuntary manslaughter is someone died. :( Despite their own failure to read the packaging, to set it out intentionally under the context of a party or gathering, is just asking for trouble. Instead, perhaps try doggy treats?

I once confused those for candy and it was horrible but I was fine. They smell delicious but they taste like chemicals and salt.

wait "left out" ? what sort of scenario is this? like, i know in most work breakrooms ive ever had, if you left it on the tables, it was to share. this looks like its sitting on a long table. so if you leave food on a breakroom and people eat it, its really your own fault, this goes double for things like bags of candy, since we all get a piece of pizza on a plate is owned but bags of things really look like its for sharing.

my mum's friend (theyre both Analytical Chemists) was sick of someone eating his LABELLED sandwiches he put in the work fridge that he put Phenolphthalein in it (the colour indicator) which also gived u chronic diarhoea when ingested so he could catch the sandwich theif. He did, when the thief he had to rush home with the runs!
