To the original poster, you're assuming hunters actually get something half the time. A season is what..2-3 months long? During one deer season you're lucky to get a deer or two; it's not like you take every deer you see. And there are limits on how many animals you can hunt per season, and those numbers are low. Would you rather me shoot a deer (I only shoot if I know it's a good, clean shot; you don't want to simply injure an animal or shoot it more than once, that's unnecessary and mean.) or it get taken down by predators or hit by a car? I use all the resources I can take (meat, antler, sometimes the hide) and I'm respectful of the animal. And no, I would not shoot a lion or a relatively more or less endangered animal. Deer have a real high population that is very sustainable and lions and other big game (I would assume) are more endangered and not to mention protected.
Wow. For a group of people who demand that everyone needs to be respectful of everyones culture, there sure is a lot of disrespect toward hunting culture. Maybe that cultural respect isnt needed when it goes so strongly against your own views. Hypocrisy much?
Hunting an endangered species shouldn't be respected, Especially since it's been proven that lions will just walk up to you and lay by you. So basically that man knew that would happen and lured Cecil to his death. Which is pretty disgusting and pathetic.
The cecil incident was just that, one incident. Honestly i know very little about it. Im referring to the idea that hunting is cowardly and unconditionally wrong.
There is nothing wrong with hunting. Also, shooting a lion is still legal, even if u and I don't like it. He payed his price, but he purposely shot a pet lion. That is what is wrong with this world.
I see that the animal park where Cecil lived has fallen on hard times becuae of the loss of income due to no hunters going there now. Apparently all those fees and licenses and stuff was the main source of money, and now no hunters want to be vlified and get death threats fo pursuing that activity, even though it's legal. Now all the animals are lacking upkeep, but the "do-gooders" got to feel good about themselves. Too bad they don't step up and foot the bill for lion food and vetrinary care.
Physically NEED to eat meat....
