There's nothing wrong with teaming up with someone to work your way to independence.

I didn't take it as independent from spouse, but independent from parents. I was not independent on my own when I got married, but my husband and I are fully independent. I know so many people my age that get married that still need their parents support.

That's the parents fault not the married couple. The second I went to college my parents said, "get a job. We'll pay for books and help as much as we can." I got married they said, "we'll pay for the toaster."

After I got engaged, I believe my dad's first words were "You know this means your cut off, right?" :p
