My Opinion on the Cecil Story

he claims a legal hunt but he lured the animal outside of the nature preserve, shot it and trailed it over 40 miles before he killed it, and realized that he had a collar on. what he didnt know was that it was a mascot of sorts and used in an oxford research study. the anger stems from the lying, deciet and deliberate(spelling? slightly drunk sorry!) luring of the animal outside of the preserve simply to hunt it. yes, it pisses me off that no one has gotten NEARLY this riled over the assaults on our CHILDREN or our MILITARY but theyre in arms for a fucking animal, but innocence deserves to be protected. all of it.

Yes shot it with an arrow and tracked for 6 hoyrs and then shot with a gun beheaded and skinned and left to rot.

I've read that most zimbabweans feel this way. It's an animal. Only americans are getting mad because they want something to be angry over. Find something more important.

Cecil was 13 years old. Lions typically live 10-14 years. HE WAS OLD. He wasn't going to live much longer. Start researching and quit whining about stupid shit.

An animal life is never more important than a human life

Are you people really this dense or are you all joking? So you're telling me that you don't know that lions are endangered as in there are less than 30,000 in the ENTIRE world. Seriously Fuck you people. There are more people in my shitty town than there are lions left on the planet. And it wasn't just one lion. If y'all knew anything about how lion packs behave you'd know that if his cubs were young, the next pack leader will kill them to make way for his own blood line. So that's his children dead and the mothers who try to defend their cubs will get injured. Hes damaged the whole package because of his fucking ego. Hes also lied about illegally hunting before so don't give me that shit that he didn't know that lion was on protected land. You see the problem is that for too many people its just a lion. When will you understand that our environment is what is keeping us alive, and we need to preserve it. And because there are 7 fuckin' billion of us and that too many people only think about themselves, then i believe that it is more important to save our ecosystem, our planet than our own species.
And now let me ask you this : why is a human life more important than an animal life ? We are not better than other species simply smarter...

We have a more complex brain, we have the ability to use tools, we have a wider range of emotions, we have laws and government's, we have made scientific and medical advances, we usually live more than 13 years, we are at the top of the food chain...

Ignorance doesnt excuse illegal actions

To all of us who think its just a lion. I personally believe that it is a symbol of the bad behavior of mankind. Please fellow funsubsters remember that, in 30 years (around 2050) we will be 9 to 10 billion people, and that we will need the equivalent of 3 planet earth to feed and protect everyone. That's not gonna happen. The only thing we will do is keep on destroying everything, and consuming all resources. A lot of you think that a man is more important than a lion. Well a lot of people will die and there's nothing we can do about it. The only thing that make everything less worse is to protect our environment in order to ensure safety for the future generations. So if it is just a lion for some of you, fine but quit complaining about the fact that thousands of people die everywhere, everyday. Because we brought that on ourselves, and its far from over...

This provides a pretty good synopsis of what happened. You will find, however, that the professional hunters told the dentist he could legally shoot the lion. And just put of curiosity: how many of u actually knew Zimbabwe had pet lion?

See this is where i dont think youve read into it properly yes it was an iconic lion vut it was protected by living in a sanctury had a gps collar because it was part of a scientific research group. Not a so called "pet" lion. It was lured out of the sanctuary by the guides and dentist. And they tried to destroy the gps collar after they killed the lion.

You're not understanding that this happened AFTER the lion was killed. The argument that's going on right now is if the dentist knew about the importance of the lion BEOFRE he shot the lion.

Luring it out of a sanctuary didnt happen after the killing. Trying to destroy evidence and claiming even after you killed it and tried to destroy the collar doesnt really help try to prove innocence either. Unknoqingly comitting a crime is one thing but unwittingly doing it then trying to destroy evidence is a crime in itself

Not to mention this dentist has been caught illegally poaching in the U.S. too.
