That's pretty much how it is. Society seems to have it right.

Well, not that artistic ability isn't a remarkable thing to have, intelligence is technically more aligned with the logic and pattern recognition and manipulation. So, the arts don't require intelligence the same way that math and science do. Someone bad at the arts isn't considered 'stupid' because they're not necessarily stupid, they're just devoid of artistic talent

Here's the problem with your logic: English, History and Politics are considered 'arts' courses. History and English require intelligence, at least if you have a decent teacher. I will concede that with a terrible teacher History just becomes route memorization of stupid dates and facts and stuff. In a setting where intelligence is actually fostered, though, History is about the why we are where we are today and understanding the thought processes behind all sorts of people in all sorts of time periods and how those thought processes shaped our lives. You don't call 'understanding what kind of thinking led to what result' "pattern recognition"? English same deal, you have to expand your horizons and think beyond just your own narrow path. Even if you're right, how do you expect to convince anyone when you aren't willing to see exactly where their thought process went wrong? Math be more streamlined, it may be able to teach the core of logic, but it isn't the only way to learn logic.

As a proud 'good at arts (English, History, Psychology, basically WORDS), bad at math (and science! Look at that societal 'you're stupid' combo)' student who took a logic course as an easy A, got an easy A for the entire first half only for my grades to tank as soon as we stopped thinking in words and started thinking in math (Seriously though. Probability theory: How the fuck does it work?) I can say that while it helps, you do not need to be good at Math to be clever or logical.

Well, it's kind of true. Math and Science have answers that have been proven and habe means to find those answers through logic and equations and steps. Art is abstract. Art has no meaning, no form. It has no steps, no logic. It just is art. So, if you're bad at art, that's fine. You just don't work that way. If you can't grasp mostly concepts and apply them to solve equations, then yeah, you may be a little stupid.
