That depends on the circuit though, high voltages takes time to bleed off and usually in cases of electrical fires at least in the first stages (before igniting other materials) cutting the power will starve the fire, but in the cases of transformer fires they contain a coolant (usually mineral oil) which can burn and since they are not meant to loose the energy it could take hours for the equipment to de-energize which is why you must always treat anything electrical as though it could kill you even if you know the circuit is dead, because the one time you don't will likely be the one time you get toasted.
