Hallo! I am learning ASL (American Sign Language), but from your comment I assume you are from England, so you should learn BSL (British Sign Language). The two are very different. I started learning from videos on Youtube, and then just let it go from there. I found a video that may help you learn the basics. It begins by showing you the alphabet, and then goes into some other basic words. Here's the link: https://www. youtube.com/watch?v=skuCxfaiINM (connect the www. to the rest, can't post links)
I really recommend learning the language, as it could really make a deaf person's day if they were able to communicate with a person of hearing. Good luck!

I thought it was illegal for employers to discriminate based on disability.
Also "deaf community", "deaf culture"? What the fuck? Does every fucking variation of human have it's own community and culture now?

Its about teaching people to embrace others' disability. A lot of deaf people have to adapt and struggle to get by in society, they're not trying to discriminate

But they are discriminating, by denying employment based on whether someone is deaf or not. I'm actually curious, does discrimination law actually not apply when employers are choosing disabled people over able people?

Think of it this way: if a Mexican restaurant only wanted to hire Mexican people then we would probably just say "oh okay that's fine" or an Indian restaurant only hiring Indian people. It's the same, a deaf based restaurant that uses ASL only hiring people who otherwise probably wouldn't get a job.

Yeah, I get that, but it's still discrimination based of race. It seems odd that the law appears to only work one way.

It's also here in Bohol Philippines. More than 15 years of good service. It's name is Garden Cafe.
