I always thought it was pronounced "Goch", the ch being as you said like in Loch (Ness).

It really is more of a gurgling sound then a 'k'like sound

Well, yeah. That's what I thought. It's hard to describe in English but in our language we have this sound as simply "ch". Kind of like an asthmatic person exhaling. Don't know why I deserve downvotes for simply being curious, but hell, this is fs. Why do I even still wonder?
