I think it is more like iodized sodium chloride and tap water would introduce more ions and will change osmolarity of the mucus to disrupt its function; this will result in a loss of mucus protection and expose the membrane.
But osmolarity depends only on the number of solute particles, not on their type. So why would iodide have a greater effect? Unless we're talking about selective transport across a membrane, in which case maybe iodide's larger ionic radius makes a difference?
That is true. But iodized salt should introduce more solute particles per added volume than non-iodized salt. If memory serves, there is an anitporter system to exchange sodium and potassium, and one for chloride with perhaps bicarbonate, but I do believe that iodine is too large for the typical anion antiporters. It has been a long time since I had to deal with nasal anatomy and phsyiology.
Well it's been part of some cultures for thousands of years and to them it's normal. I bet they think some of our fashions are "dumb as fuck'. Anyway I bet your a super fashion guru so what would I know.
Betadyne also helps a lot with healing, but there's a lot of iodine in it, so I'm not sure what would it do to your nose.
Although to be honest, I also find nose piercings repulsive. Especially septum, I think it makes you look like a bull from cartoons, but I gotta admit that some people can actually rock these piercings. Once I saw a girl who had the part of the nose between the eyes pierced (kinda like Pain from Naruto), and she looked pretty badass.
I personally have 3 rings in my helix, and I like that. It's a decent spot, and if I want I can just hide them by letting my hair down. But this really depends on the person and their views, I obviously can't judge.

Well I guess this should be a discussion, if he really despises nose rings then what's the point in getting it if it means your relationship is OVER with the person you love, simalarly she might not want him to do anything that she despises and he will have to sacrafice as well. :)
I dislike nose rings as well, but bringing a relationship to an ultimatum for something like that is far worse than a fashion fauz pas

Not if it truly disgusts you. It probably also means there are other things they might not agree on. Better to find out earlier than later. This is me personally, but I can't even look at people with nose rings. Maybe this guy feels the same and it truly is a deal breaker.
Methinks bingbang is a little insecure about his piercings.

Nope, not a hyperbole. I can't look at people with nose rings. So, yes, I guess if I ever went to India, I wouldn't look at 70% of the population. All I can think about are all the boogers on the nose ring; and if they every clean them; and what happens when they have allergies or a cold;, etc, etc, etc.
Also just so you can maybe start looking at people again .....there are minimal boogers, it's the same amount as if you didn't have a nose stud. It gets cleaned daily....like when you clean your nose in the shower ( I do hope you clean your nose in the shower). If it's fully healed, allergies and colds don't affect it, nothing gets stuck (if that's what your worried about). Mine is small, 18c gold and very pretty. I've had it for 18 years no problem, I fact people who didn't like nose piercings like mine. In the end it's a piercing, some ppl have filthy ear piercings, it's all about the individual.
I consider it similar to smoking. Nose rings are disgusting and smoking is disgusting. I think he has the right to say don't do it or I'm dumping you. For those who don't think nose rings are disgusting, that's you're opinion and you are entitled to it. Just remember, most of us are grossed out by it.
Smoking seriously affects your health, and that of those around you. A nose ring is a personal decision, and apart from them having to see it, it doesn’t affect anyone else. If her boyfriend would break up with her for her smoking, it COULD be taken as concern (an ultimatum to quit smoking), but if it is because of a piercing, he is just being vain. bebajune, if you think that way, then fine, but it does not affect you in any way, except for the fact that you judge looks more than anything else.
That is the stupidest fucking analogy I've ever seen. By "most" do you mean you and your three mates. Go into the world and get some perspective. Sheesh.

How come I'm entitled to my opinion? None of my posts have been hateful or mean, but yours are hateful and mean. They disgust me...end of story.
>we're not professionals
>these are legitimate rebukes

Is this supposed to be funny?
Or interesting?
