She suggested it. Ross walked out without giving her an answer. As well when he called she said she didn't want to fight and he assumed she slept with Mark so he slept with the girl from the xerox place which is pretty childish

They were on a break because Ross was awful to her. But what made it worse is Ross had only ever slept with 3 women (1 being Rachel). And he jumps into bed with a stranger that night

Ross wanted time with her, like anyone would want with their partners, that's not being "awful", awful is making excuses to not make time.
