Yea but really, who uses that in everyday discussion? I sell homes and we refer to houses as square footage because saying it's 232 m2 doesn't make people as excited as 2500sqft :)

I'm American and I wish people would get over this metric system crap. Seriously who cares
As an American engineering student, I fully agree with this. Everything would be so much easier if we only had to learn one set of units and all the conversions made sense.

Well, "fuck everyone, they can conform to us" made sense back when America was still a global leader in things besides obesity rates. I mean, they can still conform to us and it's still "fuck them," but now it's just because we have more guns than them and we'll be damned if we're going to let outsiders tell us HOW to be bad at math.
Ok, listen, to do this, it would cost billions of dollars, because everyone would have to change all of the math books and anything that has any type of measurement that isn't already in the metric system, plus they would have to change all of the road signs and it would just be a huge hassle for everyone. While I agree it would be easier, it would cause a shit ton of $$$
This would be amazing if it could happen. Granted it would have to be a mixed system but there is plenty of examples of that around the world. The UK uses the metric system along with their imperial system so if we could borrow (steal) another page from their book and start that would be great.
Go ahead and use metric. Nobody's stopping you from doing so. Now, it may be that the butcher wans to sell in pounds and gas is bought in gallons, but thats the coice of the seelers. So, if its so important to you, start.
But we ve been doing math
