This plant has TONS of names. I've heard: Touch-me-not, Tickle-me-not, Tickle me, Fainting plant, Praying plant, etc.

They are called common names, because people use them to identify plants easily. You don't go around pointing at a Daisy and calling it Bellis perennis, do you?

Maybe I do. Common names nick names it's the same Mimosa Pudica is the true name. Therefore it has one name and tons of nicknames or common names.
