Because those baby animal pictures weren't taken just after they popped out of their mothers. EVERYTHING looks weird covered in amniotic fluid.

look i dont really like babies in the first couple months either, but they get cute as shit once they get the fat cheeks and shit, and tons of animals babies are gross hairless pink blobs before they are adorable too.
