The sad thing is the creator of this graphic thinks the solution to these problems is socialism.
Fact: capitalism is responsible for dropping the number of people in the world living in absolute poverty from 55% to under 10% in the last 20 years.
Fact: Things only get bad in America when the government gets involved in business. It's called crony capitalism. Yes, it's bad. But it's different than capitalism.
Fact: There is an undeniable correlation between a growing economy and a decrease in poverty. Socialism is proven to stop economic growth. Even Bernie Sanders didn't argue with that.
Fact: Socialism has always lead to freedom being taken away. Every. Time.
Yes, there is a lack of good education in this country. If there wasn't, there wouldn't be so many people brainwashed into believing in socialism by a career politician's lies. Again.
* you're.
And you didn't actually say anything about why you think he's wrong, you just attacked his character/intelligence. That's not a good way to debate.
@the pacifist: But freedom for whom? By low taxes and fewer social services, you grant more freedom for the rich, but not for the poor. By giving everyone equal oporunities, you might create more freedom for those in need of them. And that group is undeniably bigger than the rich.
@guest - I know because of the link at the bottom and I am familiar with the occupy movement.
.
@keepsake - freedom for everyone. Capitalism has generated so many rags to riches stories, I can't even begin to count them. In a free market, anyone is free to start their own business and succeed. The big businesses should only be kept in business by the consumers buying their products, not by the government (which is what is going on in the US now - false monopolies caused by government interference in the market, also known as crony capitalism) You definitely give freedom to the poor by lowering taxes. No question. It's more money in their pockets to work with. Giving everyone equal opportunity is what capitalism is all about. Everyone has the chance to succeed. A poor person has a much harder time succeeding when they try to start a business and have to pay exuberant taxes on everything. I know. I'm trying to start a small business right now and it's damn near impossible.
The occupy movement wants to make it even harder by increasing taxes. They think all businesses are evil, but don't take into account the fact that 27 million businesses in this country are small businesses. Those are the ones being screwed over by high taxes. The poor are the ones who lose their opportunity and freedom in a socialist system.
You trade higher taxes for better social services, health care, education etc. And the system as it is in most socialist European countries, makes the rich pay more taxes than the poor. But you are completely right of course! The laws and regulations concering bussinesses are terrible. The goverment should help out small bussiness instead of banks that spend all their money on bonusses. I still feel like capitalism should be regulated, but in a more fair way that prevents foul play. Not based on a set of rules demanded by lobbyists and that only big coporations can profit from.
Again, all the lobbyists and rules are not capitalism. That's crony capitalism and it's terrible. True capitalism is just giving everyone the freedom to do what they want with their own business, money, and all transactions. America hasn't had it, probably ever.
Also, the system in most socialist European countries is failing and they are trying to figure out what to do to fix it. Denmark deregulated the market to try to get people to work again because they ran out of money. Sweden is making laws to force people to spend money instead of saving, because the market came to a standstill. Socialism just doesn't work. It never has, and never will. It removes incentives from people to work, it stalls the economy, the poor don't improve long term, and everyone loses freedom.
Thank you @thepacifist for educating us. I always understood this one upside of capitalism about the freedom of business, but have always believed socialism would be fun because of the equality but I will also not deny how strong your point is about the lack of freedom; when you put it that way in words, this has been wonderful to read thanks. Very well worded, never looked at the debate this way. Than you very much.
Since the maker of this picture seems to think it is easy enough for regular citizens to change the way things works, lets invite them to america to solve our problems. But seriosly there ARE people trying to free us but it will be impossible to get everyone to stand up because if you have a family, you wouldnt want to risk being imprisoned for "domestic terrorism" and losing your kids/loved ones.
True.. Luckily not that big of a debt compared to many other countries.. (So many ppl with smaller loans) And we do have very small interest on the loan.. Many of my friends choose not to take loans, only the grant, so the attitude towards student debt is slowly changing.
You had me right up until I saw the footer. Yep, what a flash in the pan that was. If watching the news has shown me anything, it's that when a people have a strong enough desire for a radical change in regime and policy... sit ins and signs just don't cut it. A more... direct approach is needed.

Trouble is, is that Americans are so distracted by lowest common denominator "entertainment" and our triple soy mocha no froth sugar free veagan fair-trade latte that is as much a fashion accessory as it is a beverage to care enough to get angry enough to do something about it.
OR... You can NOT go to University as I did, and instead go into a career into your countries Armed Forces to serve you country for a long, interesting and opportunity rich career, and a decently sized paycheck, and ontop of that, no student debt. Just saying, requires very little education to get in.

How do you link this picture to socialism vs capitalism?
Alex Jones doesn't count.
