Scumbags who take up two seats on the bus should also be met with some justice. It annoys the absolute hell out of me when some old lady (I don't want to generalize but from my experience it's mostly old people who do this) sits and puts her ultra tiny handbag on the seat next to her. Like, I understand that old people have joint problems etc but that tiny handbag does not weigh enough to cause pain and you it's just common sense not to do this on a crowded bus! The rest of us are huddled in there like sardines in a tin can, damnit!
I think they most likely the old lady takes two seats because she thinks that since she's old and frail there might be the chance of being robbed or hurt..
Dude, you can be surprise on how a thief works. Thieves can rob you blind in close quarters. The closer the quarters the more likely the thief can pass a little of nudge of a pickpocket wallet by someone bumping into you.
True, but this works mostly in subways, it's less common on busses. And in general you're right, but when it's a bus filled with old ladies and sleepy students like in my case, the chances of being robbed are slim. These ladies really have nothing to be afraid of.
Tried that once. I got a 5 min speech on how our generation is disrespectful and how DARE I ask someone to move when they have the right to one seat. I was probably just unlucky that I asked such a hag though.
We call them "Spider".
