Didn't snakes have legs but were forced to crawl the earth on their bellies after tricking eve into eating the forbidden fruit?

Snakes evolved from lizards that used to crawl around and live in tunnels. Eventually their legs became more of a hindrance and they evolved to be rid of them however male pythons still have very small claws where their back legs used to be. c:
