Li-Fi is expected to be much cheaper than wi-fi! Read my other comment for a link, as well as the limitations.

Gigabits, not gigabytes. (Gb as opposed to GB).
Also, it needs a visual line between the two devices, since it's based on light bursts (LiFi = Light Fidelity).
Really fast, really cool, but it is in no way a replacement for WiFi. Thought we will see it being used in certain situations.
Problem is it uses visible light to work, so it doesn't work through walls.

And will we get it in the USA? Probably not! We have terrible internet anyways, why do they want to change that when only a few hold the entire US market? There would probably be less profit to be gained
Let me explain my comment: the USA has some of the worst internet speeds in the world because a small amount of companies hold the market. I don't believe they'll like such fast internet because it messes with what they have going on, which is good for them but not for us
