This scene bothered me from the first time I saw this movie. Spooner did not ask Sonny if he could, only if "a robot" could. Therefore asking if Spooner himself can is asinine. A correct correlation is "can a human?" YES YOU FUCKING CANNER, HUMANS CAN!

Although, I wouldn't exactly call my paintings masterpieces but everybody else seems to be impressed with them. I agree with you, Spooner was trying to point out the diversity in human capabilities and Sonny basically pulled a I know you are, but what am I, type of childish comeback.
