I remember when guest comments appeared on one massive page and not individual.
.
Also did anyone see the numbers next to guest names at one point or did I just imagine that.
Multiple people can be under the same "guest" name if they're on the same network, though. Or at least I know that if I comment while at school it's a different set of comments under "guest" than if I comment at home, and the school one has comments that I didn't write.

If you're at school and you and your friend comment on stuff they'll be separate it's still different IP addresses but you are correct that if you're at school it's a different than when you're home
Huh. The guest my comments go under at school has a bunch of other stuff that I know I didn't write. And not just like "I forgot about that," like referencing people I don't know or expressing opinions I've never had.
Because it's easier for, and more likely for, guests to troll. Plus it's also a lot harder to IP ban a guest than a user, so if you have someone stalking a user ( it's happened here ) there's not much to do.
Said it once and I'll say it again. Guests shouldn't be allowed to comment. If they want contribute in the comment section then they should have to create an account.
Anyone can create an account using any name and info they want to fake. Proves nothing. Who in hell is metalman? Could be the 9 year old down the street, could be bin Laden's brother. Makes no difference being a guest or having an account. The difference is that SOME people think they're better than others because they are part of some exclusive club. Guess what? You, metalman, me, and joe blow guest are all just some anonymous asshole with an opinion. You're still a nobody, get over it.

It does make a difference because some guest come on here just to spew hatred and if they couldn't comment that wouldn't happen and if they had an account and did that they would be banned. So yeah metalman is spot on with his comment in my opinion.
Who pissed in your cornflakes this morning? Anonymity does well but when people blatantly abuse the privilege and find a loophole in the system they reek havoc with no repercussion. By forcing someone to create an account it becomes easier to remove those that wish to abuse the anonymity.
Okay okay maybe you have a point. But if some troll gets banned they can simply create another account, no?
And my cornflakes are pissless but mom did switch to freakin' skim milk!
Joking btw.

Not sure. I think they iP ban so that wouldn't be possible. But even so if they do it again that account will be banned either they will get tired of making accounts or behave. I don't see why we have guest any way there are tons of other sites where you have to make an account if you want to participate. I think guest should be allowed to view the site but not post
This thread is the reason I created an account. I have been a "rude guest" for several years but I knew I'd need to be able to post more than 5 comments!
99% of the hate towards guests aren't towards some " being real "
They're towards the ones that go to a post about puppies and trolls about Muslims and isis
