No, don't do that. 1. Half of the fun is setting it up exactly how he wants it and 2. It will give him time to socialize and interact with his/her family instead of being stuck on the console as soon as they open it.

Why the shit would anyone want to wait 24 hours plus for a game and patches to dl.. setting up a console is not part of the experience. The last damn thing I wanted on the ps4 launch day was to download shit. I just wanted to play it..

Don't open it. Prepare the kid for a lifetime of connectivity issues, network problems and servers not communicating. That and then the kid gets to watch you as you open up that amazing drone that you bought for yourself.

I got mine and it took 4 hours to set up. Then I had to wait 12 hours for the game to download. GTA took 4 days. SET IT UP BEFORE YOU GIVE IT TO THEM

Or... ya know... let them make a deal with you. Fooor example, my brother and I are combining our "Christmas Allowance" and forgoing all other gifts so we can get a PS4.

You know just because you have a few nice things doesn't automatically make you spoiled. Spoiled is getting what you want when you want it and not being appreciative for it. Some parents today grew up not having a lot and they want it to be different for their own kids. They want to be able to give them nice Christmas presents. It's possible to have nice things and be appreciative of it. It doesn't automatically mean someone is spoiled.

No surprisingly, I didn't, I worked for my own presents using pay from paper rounds, cleaning cars, cutting lawns etc. I paid for my own shit, and expected or demanded nothing in return

So nobodies parents should but them a console because yours didnt? Lmao I bought my child a WiiU when it came out because she wanted one and deserved one. That does not mean she's spoiled.
