Actually,your gas IS actual gas.It is in gas form,obviously.And,it is specifically METHANE gas.

Gas used in burners have a different odor. Less "repulsive" and more "what the hell" than fart.

Actually if you eat a lot of eggs or take certain antibiotics you can get the rotten-egg smell they add to natural gas so it's detectable.
