I think JK Rowling should explain as to why Fred and George didn't seem notice these things because I really don't understand how they could've missed them.

no probably not, but they had to have noticed a man named Peter Pettigrew sleeping in Ron's bed every night. I don't see how you could miss that.

There's a cool theory that the Marauders charmed the map so that if someone was in their Animagus form they would only show up if the person looking at the the map knew about their Animagus form. This way their secret would be safe even if someone else found the map and wondered why they were running around in the middle of the night for example :) also explains why Remus could see Peter on the map and why it took so long for Harry to notice it as well.

Or....they could have just been more focused on causing mischief, looking along the corridors (and any room connected to them) to their destination to avoid getting caught, rather than creeping on people in their private rooms.
