People often refer to their kids as "The kids", especially when speaking to friends or other family members. Considering the fact this is on Facebook, the post is probably directed towards friends. As such, saying "the kids" isn't a mistake, but rather a generalization many people use.

Ugh, just had a penicillin shot flash back. Leave's a lump in your ass the size of a golf ball and you have to sit down to rock back and forth so it gets worked into the muscle
