i worked at a cannery once, when a bacteria gets in the tomatoes, the drums tend to explode sending the lid and mess into the ceiling, when a batch is contaminated, everyone takes cover

Worked in a lot of restaurants, same thing happened if we left ketchup bottles by the windows in the summer..

It looks like the tin was already opened at some point and then put back. Looks like trouble!

Botulism anyone?

Actually, it looks like that tin is safe from botulism. That type of mold requires oxygen, which is toxic to anaerobic organisms like botulism. Not guaranteeing it won't make you trip or send you to the hospital, but the one thing you're unlikely to get is botulism.
