Why is it a "good" thing that 14% of the population is religious. Not saying its a bad thing. I just think its more important that people treat each other fairly because they are people and not based on what name they call god. So i think saying the whole religion thing is irrelevant.
Well it being the home of Skype doesn't necessarily make me want to live there more, so it could just be an "interesting fact". If you take as a reason to want to live there, it may could be a benefit for atheists; people like to live among people with similar beliefs. Lower religion also means things like the chaplain program in schools (which comes under much contention) and also less discrimination towards the non majority religion: ie many western nations are Christian majority and it influences the culture a lot. Although I do agree with you completely in regards to people respecting others choices and acting with reason
while i heard a lot of wonderful things about Estonia and surely want to visit the country, you are wrong about folk songs. Hungary has more, there are about 200k registered folk songs. but it's a minor thing, absolute high five to you and your nation!
The 14% figure represents the population of Estonians who claim that religion is not an important part of their daily life. UN polls show that Christians make up around 45% and in actuality atheists only make up around 15%. Sorry, just had to make a correction, but it is true that Estonia is one of the least religious European countries :D
Same here in Canada!
