Sort of, but not really... The seeds do contain traces of amygdalin, a cyanide precursor compound. When consumed, it is metabolized into hydrogen cyanide.
The human body IS able to process small amounts of cyanide, such as those that would result from the accidental consumption of a whole core's worth of seeds... or a whole bags worth for that matter.
In fact, the LD50 rate for Apple seeds is over 20 pounds of seeds... however, the protective coat on the seeds would prevent them from being able to release sufficient amounts of amygdalin into your system anyway. You must remember, many plants and trees spread their seed through animal consumption. Eaten here, pooped somewhere else. Apple trees are one of them. That wouldn't work if it killed what ate them.
Have you never imagined murdering people as a child? Back when you didn't really have the concept of death being permanent and the emotional consequences that came with murder?

No, I would feel bad about thinking someone is mean or ugly.
Fun story: apparently when I was younger (about two) i tried to kill my baby sister twice. The first time I pushed her down a flight of stairs. The other time my parents came into the room and found me with a rope around her neck. I was not a nice toddler.

TL;DR: Apples are safe.
