I've never met a Jehovah's that wasn't courteous. When my grandmother passed away, a group stopped by the house. They were sorry to hear she had passed. She had invited them in and they would talk scripture over tea every week.
Relax, just extending an invitation.. plus they aren't showing up asking for candy they didn't earn.
They come to my apartment complex every week, sometimes more often, usually before 8 in the morning. They wil knock and ring the bell several times before giving up. What really pisses me off is when I do open the door they say they only want to speak with Spanish speakers. It's always the same people too so you would think that after a year they would at least remember who the English speakers are and stop waking us up for no reason.
People who dress like Jehovah's witnesses have an easier time casing a house they want to rob

They're always really polite but if someone has said they're not interested once they shouldn't try again.
Once when some Jehovies put a leaflet through my door I posted it back through like "nope. No brownie points for you!"
no Christmas or birthdays either

we don't celebrate halloween because of pagan origins. if you are curious, you can go to jw.org or wol.jw.org those are both great websites to learn more about us Witnesses

I know it has been a while since I posted this comment, but I just wanted to thank everybody who replied on my comment. It gives me hope that us Jehovah's Witnesses are everywhere. Thank you again.
We can celebrate weddings, anniversaries, baby showers. And our congregations get together and have parties just for fun. I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything since I've never celebrated holidays.

Hold up you guys don't celebrate birthdays but you celebrate anniversaries? Please explain that logic?
Guys, have we've not learned to speak with facts and information?
Korozco, the reason why we don't celebrate several holidays is because their customs and their meaning are contrary to Bible doctrines and teachings. For example, one of the reasons as to why we don't celebrate birthdays is due to it's pagan origin. According to Funk & Wagnalls Standard Dictionary of Folklore, Mythology, and Legend, they originate from the belief that on a person’s birthday, “evil spirits and influences have the opportunity to attack the celebrants” and that “the presence of friends and the expression of good wishes help to protect the celebrant.” And the book The Lore of Birthdays say that “birthday candles, in folk belief, are endowed with special magic for granting wishes.”
The Bible, however, condemns the use of magic, divination, spiritism, or “anything like this.” (Deuteronomy 18:14; Galatians 5:19-21)
As for wedding anniversaries, the reason why they are more likely to be celebrated is due to it's roots. Marriage is an divine institution established by God, the first human wedding being performed by Jehovah himself (God's name) as described in Genesis 2:22-24.
But all in all, Korozco, Does this mean that we're preoccupied with the origin of EVERY single custom out there? No, not really, but we simply cannot ignore the Scriptures when they give such pointed indications either, as is the case with birthdays, halloween, and Christmas, to say a few.
I apologize for this long reply, but to respond properly this much was called for. I apologize as well if you or any FS member might've felt offended in my attempt to give an informed answer.
I wish you all an awesome day! (or night, depending where y'all are geographically)
I'm 2 weeks later to this post but I was going to cite if someone else didn't. We've been taught to give satisfying logical answers and explanations. Thanks for coming through guys
