We take our parent's last names. He was Frankenstein's creation, his son, and would have take his father's last name and be named Frankenstein as well.
I dispute this. I don't think the Creature would have taken his creator's surname. Wasn't exactly a lot of love between the two. Also, I believe it was important to keep him unnamed. I'm sure Shelley did that on purpose, to emphasise how Victor treated him like an animal.
