AND SOMEONE FINALLY ASKS THE BIG QUESTION
WHAT THE FUCK IS UP WITH GAY FANFIC? IS IT AN OBSESSION WITH GAY CULTURE? IS IT THAT YOU CAN'T GET THE SEX IN NORMAL LIFE SO YOU HAVE TO THROW TWO MEN TOGETHER TO FEEL GOOD ABOUT YOURSELF?
AND WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL WITH SHIPS IN GENERAL?
People have a very different view on how things should be. Some people think two people, despite gender/sex/appearance/preference, have the perfect dynamic when it comes to a relationship, and want to see it happen.
Yeah this ^
I can understand (although I absolutely hate) pretend pairing people based on their dynamic but why does it seem like people are actively hunting for gay relationships? It's not cute, it's not funny. It's simply another kind of relationship and I think in general it's disrespectful to the characters to ship.
Disrespectful....to fictional characters that often dont even exist in any sort of way?????? Lets put it this way: Most straight/etc dudes and bi/lez girls think lesbians are hot, so for straight/bi girls ship gay guys. Same principle in a sexual ship. When its personality based, its just usually that way with ships because the dynamic can be obvious BUT it'll never happen in the series, so the fandom just ships it amongst themselves because they have a consensus that it would work. It just is what it is, and if you don't at least UNDERSTAND the perspective of the shippers after all that explanation because you're just super against it then....well then idk what to tell ya.
To me, it's not the sexuality of the ships, it's just the fact that most of the time, when I find two characters that fit together perfectly, they're guys. Maybe it's because some of the shows I watch have less focus on the females, or maybe I just happen to stumble into good plots that end up being hella gay?
*clenches jaw*
