People have always opposed new ways of thinking. When it was proposed the earth may not be flat and may not be the center of the universe, people rejected it. There have and always will be bigots.

I don't think a new scientific discovery that goes against what people had believed for so long can be compared to some bitch baby college kids whining that they feel unsafe because people disagree with them

New ways of thinking arent necessarily right either. Tradition has gotten mankind to where we are now

I'm actually confused what is even being discussed anymore. All I was saying is that these "urg need my safe space" kids aren't much different from people who who turn a blind eye when their beliefs are questioned. Yeah it's not quite on the same scale as a big science breakthrough, but jeez.

@bassinyoface: but never just for the sake of change. The only time something should need to be changed is if we've come across new information that tells us that change would be beneficial. Otherwise we're just doing experiments that are at least as likely to make us worse off than better.

I find it is much harder for college students to debate now. Everyone gets personally offended. It use to be academic and a time to test out thoughts and ideas. Debate helps you solidify your own ideas or alter them. Now even professors get in trouble for expressing opinions.
