Eh, depends on whether you're watching the movies or reading the comics. DC isn't as dark and gritty in the comics nowadays. It's the perfect balance of dark, engaging story and lighthearted humor. Like really, one panel you have Batman decimating soldiers of Apokolips to retrieve his son's corpse, the next you have Alfred comforting Batcow. You read that right, there's a Batcow.

Dc can be a bit dark but but they NEVER try to kill anyone, and marvel.......well they're basically serial killers
