Movie etiquette is you first try for a few seconds to calm the baby. If it still cries after no more than 2-3 minutes take your baby to the hall where you can still see the movie but it has light so you can try to sooth the cryig baby. If the baby is still crying you go out into the movie theater hall way if still crying it is time to leave. If you speak to a manager they will give you a rain check ticket. So you didn't lose money on missing the movie.
I once spent the last 2/3 of a moive sitting in the hall that is lite but you can still see the movie with my daughter when she was 7months old becuase the movie was to loud but that hall was not as loud. I sat on the floor and held her in my lap as she slept.
I said 2-3 because it depends on the movie like if it is a kids movie 3 mins is 2 minute of trying to sooth the baby and 1 minute to give the parent some time to gather the kid and it's things up.
If it is an Pg13 and up movie with loud fighting 2 minutes is top because 1 minute of trying to sooth the baby and 1 minute to give the parent some time to gather the kid and it's things up. and to ask 1 minute is tough. Because what you are seeing is probably the only time in weeks the parent has been out of the house. Yeah it is annoying to have the kid cry during your movie but if they are trying to make it stop than at least give them 2-3 minutes. Also just like the parents, if you feel your movie was ruined by the baby you can complain to the manger and ask for a rainy day ticket or ask them to ask the parent to go into the hall or something. You know if you don't want to talk to the parents your self.
Not every one has the ability to have a babysitter. When my daughter was a toddler and younger we lived no where near a family member or did we have any friends who we could call close enough friend to watch her. So she went everywhere we did. And now in days with how you always see on the news daycares and babysitters neglecting, or abusing, or even killing kids who wants to have a complete stranger watch thier kids.
I agree with mrscollector.
I'm not a fan of crying babies at a movie, but I'm also realistic. Plus, it's when the parent flat out ignores the baby that the real problem arises. If I see you trying, you're ok in my book, and I may even help out if the parent really needs it and I'm asked.
