Censorship is one thing, but I don't think the KKK and Neo Nazis are even classified as a domestic terrorist group, despite their clear intentions. Sure, giving the government power to censor our speech would lead to exploitation, but at the same time, it's unacceptable that these groups are able to operate as freely as they have.
Let the people crucify them.
Let them be outcasts and let them speak freely with nothing to fear but their fellow citizens.
Don't surrender any liberties to something as fickle and wrong as politics.
But when people rise against them, they feel even more righteous in their convictions. They feel that they are united against a common evil, the Underdog vs. the World. They feel even more compelled to do what they do, because they think they are right. What do the common people have to wield but words alone?
You don't think government opposition wouldn't make them feel even more rightous?
If the bad guys do rise up, they can be fought by other people. And if things really got that bad, then the governemnt could step in WITHOUT taking away freedom of speech.
I like when statement of fact gets down voted. Makes me think of Adam Savage's t-shirt that reads something to the effect of "I reject your reality and substitute my own".
And one day when you disagree with those in power and the thought police drag you away begging and pleading I hope you remember that it was exactly what you asked for.
*sigh*
This is the dilemma: As much as I love spending time in the internet, its influence in the world is just crappy. 20 years of "free speech" and misused information and now we have to reexplain people that the world isn't flat, vaccines are sensible and racism is shit.
I am in constant disagreement with those in power and in the last 25 years of my life I have been arrested multiple times because I stood up for what I believe in by taking part in demonstrations. But all this struggle and effort has contributed to the society and my country developing to a liberate, open and multicultural place to live. Currently, I see things developing in the other direction again, especially in terms on nationalism. But believe me, unknown friend, should the ones in power ever challenge the fact that racism is crime or make it socially accepteable again, I will be the first in line to get arrested, with a smile on my face.
Nationalism is not a bad thing. It never has been. What's bad is letting dictators and warlords in the U.N. have any say in how the world should be. What's bad is forcing nations to relinquish their culture, safety, liberty, and history just to accommodate people who already fucked up their own countries.
Your way is only sustainable if it is applied in a way that would make the most imperialist and power-hungry men in history blush.

Raising one's right arm into the air is an action not exclusive to the Nazi party. I would say everyone with arms has done it at least once by some insane accident. This is a very dangerous and stupid rule.
Oh mayflower!!! Rejected son. Get all your little pilgrims, get back on the ocean, and head back to England. But keep your arms down when you sail by Germany.

And yes, racism is very much a matter of opinion.
